Atlas Copco acquires NPE. According to reports, Atlas Copco has approached NPE several times in the last five years.
NPE is the biggest pump rental and specialised dewatering company in Australia and was founded in Mackay in 2001.
NPE’s operations cover a wide range of industries, including mining, oil and gas, civil construction, and municipalities, with services such as dewatering, bypass pumping, pump sales and rental, generator rental, pipeline and construction, engineering, remote telemetry, and disaster recovery management.
In 2021, the company expanded by acquiring the Perth-based Vortex Group. It currently has 420 employees with a revenue of about A$205 million in 2022.
Atlas Copco’s Power Technique business area president, Andrew Walker, praised NPE’s “strong market recognition and great expertise.”
“The acquisition will strengthen our presence in dewatering and water treatment, which is an area where needs are increasing due to climate change and more frequent flooding events. This is driving the need for fast response and specialty dewatering solutions.”
NPE will become part of Atlas Copco’s specialty rental division within the Power Technique business area.
The current management team will stay on to maintain the NPE brand. This includes the Managing Director Dave Campbell and Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary Jennifer Miller.
The acquisition is expected to be finalised during the current quarter, subject to regulatory approval.
