Impact Minerals has made a noteworthy discovery of a substantial rare earth soil anomaly. The discovery happened at its newly identified Hyperion prospect within the Arkun project in Western Australia.

Recent soil geochemistry surveys conducted at the site revealed high-tenor rare earth element (REE) results at the Hyperion prospect, showcasing up to 5880 parts per million (ppm) total rare earth element oxides (TREO) and yttrium.

Impact highlighted that these results represent some of the highest reported TREO findings in Western Australia.

Impact’s Managing Director, Mike Jones, expressed the significance of the Hyperion prospect’s discovery, marking a breakthrough in the exploration of the Arkun project. The project had initially focused on nickel, platinum, and copper.

Jones stated, “Impact’s exploration strategy recognises that the Corrigin tectonic zone has potential for various commodities, including rare earth elements, and the Hyperion prospect could host a large REE deposit in the clays developed in weathered granite.”

To assess the economic viability of the discovery, initial drill testing and bulk sampling for metallurgical test work are slated for the upcoming field season. The extraction characteristics observed will inform resource definition drilling scheduled later in the year.

These newly identified anomalies complement the previously reported 10km long REE anomaly at the company’s Horseshoe prospect. This is positioned 25km east of Hyperion. Impact underscored the significant exploration potential for rare earth elements at the Arkun project.
