BHP is proudly extending its partnership with the AFLW for the upcoming season, building on a collaboration that began in 2019.

As the AFLW season kicked off this past weekend, BHP is focused on enhancing equality and opportunities in both the business and sporting realms by supporting Australia’s premier women’s sports league.

Geraldine Slattery, BHP’s president for Australia, emphasised the company’s commitment to creating more opportunities for women to excel in both business and sports.

“At the heart of this partnership is our shared commitment to embracing diversity,” she stated.

“Together with the AFLW, we aim to achieve gender balance and empower every woman to thrive in their chosen career.”

Slattery highlighted BHP’s goal of increasing female participation both on and off the field. “We are delighted to see a growing number of women in various roles across our organisation, with women now representing over 37 percent of our workforce,” she noted.

AFLW general manager Emma Moore expressed excitement about BHP’s continued support.

“BHP is providing leadership and opportunities to help AFLW players excel in both business and elite sport,” she said. “They are paving the way to demonstrate what is possible, both at work and on the field.”

As the official women’s coaching partner and inclusive community club partner, BHP is dedicated to boosting female participation in the workplace and sports. The partnership also emphasizes the importance of inclusion and diversity policies in local football clubs and leagues.

This collaboration supports a range of initiatives, from senior executive programs to grassroots development opportunities, including career advancement and female leadership programs in communities where BHP operates.

BHP’s partnership with the AFLW is set to run until the end of 2025, reinforcing its commitment to women in sports and beyond.
