Caterpillar Marks 100 Years of Innovation and Growth

Caterpillar celebrated its 100th anniversary this week. Leaders and employees gathered at the company’s headquarters in Irving, Texas, to commemorate a century of groundbreaking achievements and industry leadership.

The official anniversary falls on April 15. This date marks 100 years since the Holt Manufacturing Company and C.L. Best Tractor Co. merged in 1925 to form what became the Caterpillar Tractor Co.

From its first tracked tractor to today’s advanced autonomous construction and mining equipment and high-performance engines, Caterpillar has remained at the forefront of innovation.

Jim Umpleby, Caterpillar’s chairman and CEO, reflected on the milestone. He attributed the company’s success to its dedicated workforce, loyal customers, and supportive business partners.

“Our achievements over the past 100 years are a result of our employees’ hard work, the trust of our customers, and the partnership of our dealers,” Umpleby said. “I’m honoured to lead this remarkable team and confident that Caterpillar will continue to help build a more sustainable world over the next century.”

Celebrations to honour Caterpillar’s centenary included events in Sanford, North Carolina, and Peoria, Illinois. The primary gathering will take place at the company’s headquarters in Texas.

As part of the celebrations, Caterpillar launched its Centennial World Tour. An initiative designed to showcase its facilities globally while offering an engaging and interactive experience for employees and visitors.

One highlight of the tour will be a stop at Wheels at Wanaka, a vintage fair in New Zealand. This is set to take place in April. This event will serve as the fourth and final leg of the World Tour, bringing the centennial celebrations to a close.

Caterpillar’s 100-year journey reflects a legacy of innovation and a commitment to building a better future, with exciting prospects for the next century of growth.
