Liebherr Australia has successfully delivered an R 9300 mining excavator to MACA.
Maca is a specialised mining and civil contracting company headquartered in Western Australia and a subsidiary of Thiess.
The Karlawinda gold project is situated within the Pilbara region of Western Australia, approximately 65 kilometres southeast of Newman. Capricorn Metals owns and operates this prominent gold project.
Capricorn Metals achieved a remarkable record of annual gold production, reaching 120,014 ounces in the 2023 financial year (FY23).
Liebherr’s R 9300 mining excavator was officially commissioned at the Karlawinda site in late August.
This bolstered it to the existing trio of Liebherr R 9200 excavators already in operation at the gold project.
This addition significantly augments MACA’s fleet of Liebherr excavators, pushing the count to more than twenty.
The selection of the R 9300 was underpinned by its remarkable capacity to contribute to the fulfilment of production targets for the client.
MACA has expressed its anticipation to witness the R 9300’s performance on-site, building upon the impressive track record of their existing fleet of Liebherr machines.
“The R 9300 was chosen not only for its capacity to assist in meeting the production targets of its client, but also for the excavator’s fuel efficiency, its state-of-the-art technology such as Liebherr’s assistance systems, and its operational effectiveness,” Liebherr said.
“MACA has expressed its excitement in seeing what the new R 9300 is able to accomplish on site, based on the impressive performance of its existing fleet of Liebherr machines.”
Liebherr recently deployed a fleet of four T 264 vehicles to a mining site in Western Australia. This was for the commencement of onsite system validation. This latest delivery of the R 9300 to the Karlawinda gold project further highlights Liebherr’s ongoing success in the Australian mining sector.
