Mineral Resources (MinRes) has once again thrown its support behind the annual Cancer 200 Ride. The ride is to help raise vital funds for the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research (the Perkins) in Western Australia.

This year’s two-day event saw nearly 2,000 riders participate. There were 87 from the MinRes team. They completed the gruelling 200km round trip from Perth to Mandurah and back on October 12-13.

The Perkins is a premier WA medical research centre dedicated to conducting cutting-edge research aimed at tackling some of the world’s most pressing health challenges.

The Cancer 200 Ride is the institute’s flagship fundraising event and holds the title of the highest-earning charity cycling event in Australia. This year alone, the ride raised over $10 million.

MinRes’ team achieved an incredible fundraising milestone of $885,999 this year, which included a $10,000 donation from the company itself. This brings the team’s total contribution to a remarkable $2.3 million over the past six years.

MinRes rider Chad Holmgreen expressed his pride in being part of such a committed and generous group supporting an important cause.

“The level of camaraderie and support from such a large group was both motivational and empowering,” Holmgreen said.

First-time rider Asha Nayak shared her excitement about joining the event, feeling honoured to wear the MinRes jersey.

“The ride itself was very challenging, but making it to the finish line was exhilarating,” Nayak said.

MinRes’ participation in the annual event was further bolstered by a dedicated team of volunteers. They ensured riders stayed hydrated, well-fed, motivated, and safe. This year, 15 MinRes employees and family members generously gave their time to support the cause.

MinRes has also donated over $2.5 million to the Perkins as part of its long-term partnership with the institute.
